The special WWE Draft edition of Monday Night Raw opened with the tag team title match between Show Miz and the Hart Dynasty who earned their title shot at WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday.
WWE trotted out Matt Striker, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole to handle announcing duties because every WWE talent was up for grabs during the draft.
Before the title match, Miz got on the mic and put down the Hart family and insulted Stu Hart and his training techniques. He then demanded that Bret Hart come out and declare Show Miz to be the greatest tag team in WWE history.
Hart answered his call and proclaimed Show Miz as the greatest team of all time. He also said that the Mountie was the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time and that David Arquette was the greatest World Champion of all time. He then put over the Hart Dynasty and the match was on.

Hart Dynasty vs. Show Miz (c)
The teams got ample time to wrestle and the match was not rushed as has become common place on WWE’s flagship show.
Neither side really dominated the other with the champions and the Hart Dynasty getting chances on offense.
The finish came after the the Dynasty hit the Hart Attack on Miz and Kidd followed that up with a Sharpshooter to make him tap. Bret and Natalya joined the new champions in the ring to celebrate.
When the show returned from break, we learned that Big Show hit Miz with the Knockout Punch, essentially severing their partnership.
It looks like Triple H will be off WWE television for a while. The announcers said that he suffered nerve damage due to the beating he took from Sheamus at Extreme Rules on Sunday.
We reported earlier that he would be filming a movie down in New Orleans so this is just a way for WWE to write him off for a while.
Backstage, Josh Mathews was interviewing Jack Swagger who shocked the world by retaining his World Heavyweight Title against Randy Orton.
Swagger put over the fact that he was smart until Edge interrupted him.
The Rated R Superstar said that if the champion wasn’t drafted to Raw then he would only have four days left with the title. He was going to take it on Smackdown.
Draft Pick No. 1
With the first pick in the 2010 WWE Draft, Smackdown got WWE Diva Kelly Kelly from Raw.
Here’s how it went down.
Maryse and Eve vs. Layla and Michelle McCool
In a special Raw vs Smackdown Divas tag match during the WWE Draft, former WWE Divas Champion Maryse teamed with current champion Eve to face Layla and Michelle McCool.
The first draft pick of the night would be on the line.
Maryse and Eve couldn’t get along to focus on the match. The French speaking sex pot was giving her partner the cold shoulder since they walked through the curtain.
Early in the match they brawled with each other as their opponents and Vickie Guerrero looked on and laughed.
Maryse tagged herself in and began arguing with Eve again which enabled McCool to get the win for her team and Smackdown.
Draft Pick No. 2
With the second pick of the 2010 WWE Draft, Smackdown randomly selected the Big Show to join their roster.
Here’s how it went down.
CM Punk vs. Evan Bourne
In the second match of the night with a WWE draft pick on the line, CM Punk defeated Evan Bourne to gain the second pick of the night for Smackdown.
As per the usual, Punk was joined by the Straight Edge Society of Luke Gallows and Serena.
Punk came perilously close to losing the match, but the same hooded individual that helped him defeat Rey Mysterio at Extreme Rules helped him again on Raw.
Backstage, Teddy Long congratulated Big Show on becoming the newest member of the Smackdown roster. Show just stared at him like he was crazy. Then he gave him a big hug and said it was all good.
As the WWE Draft special on Raw rolled on, Sheamus came out to brag about defeating Triple H at WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday.
The Celtic Warrior said that he ended Triple H’s career on Sunday. However, before he could get much further he was cut off by Randy Orton.
Orton said that nobody despised Triple H as much as he did, but when it came time to wrestle him he faced him like a man. He didn’t attack him from behind.
Sheamus and Orton got to jawing back and forth with threats of violence against each other. They each want a title shot, so John Cena came on out to join the party.
Cena did a bit where he pretended to be on his cell phone with WWE global.
He said that Sheamus looked like a jar of mayonnaise with two eyes and a ketchup haircut. Big pop for that one.
After a little more fun and games Cena said Sheamus and Orton would wrestle later in the night to determine the No. 1 contender for his WWE Title.
Draft Picks No. 3-5
John Morrison, R-Truth and Edge were all drafted to Raw during Monday’s WWE Draft special.
Here’s how it went down.
10-Man Battle Royal
A 10-man Raw vs Smackdown Battle Royal was the next match on WWE Raw. On the line were the three draft picks for the winning brand.
The Raw team was made up of MVP, Santino Marella, Ted DiBiase, Mark Henry and Yoshi Tatsu.
The Smackdown team was made up of Shad Gaspard, Kane, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth and Drew McIntyre.
Drew McIntyre was the first man out, followed by Yoshi Tatsu.
MVP was out next followed by Shad Gaspard and R-Truth. Kane then took out Mark Henry, but was ousted by Ted DiBiase.
The Million Dollar son and Hijo de Mysterio then put on a clinic on how to dangle off the rope without being eliminated. Eventually, Mysterio would go out. After the match DiBiase laid out Santino who was never eliminated.
Draft Pick No. 6
Kofi Kingston was drafted to Smackdown as part of Monday’s WWE Draft and sent an immediate message to the blue team by taking out Chris Jericho.
Here’s how it went down.
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Jericho came out to the ring during Monday’s WWE Draft special on Raw. He demanded that Edge be suspended for his actions at Extreme Rules.
Soon enough he turned his attention to NXT Rookie Heath Slater and demanded that he come down and apologize to him. Slater, defeated Y2J last week.
Slater came out and apologized that Jericho wasn’t able to beat him or Edge. Christian then came out for a match against Jericho.
The two men worked a dandy until Jericho hit a Code Breaker on Christian from the top rope, which gave Smackdown their draft pick.
After the match Jericho assaulted Slater and laid him out with another Code Breaker.
Kofi Kingston was then drafted to Smackdown. He rushed down and nailed Trouble in Paradise on Jericho.
Draft Pick No. 7
Former ECW Champion Christian was picked to join Smackdown during Monday’s WWE Draft.
Here’s how it went down.
Jack Swagger vs. John Morrison
Continuing the trend of a lot of wrestling on Monday’s WWE Raw, World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger and John Morrison worked another dandy.
Back and forth they went, trying to out duel each other for twenty minutes it seemed.
Eventually, Swagger was able to counter Morrison’s Starship Pain attempt and hit a Gutwrench Powerbomb.
Strong showing for Morrison who got a big push despite the loss.
Once Christian was announced as the draft pick, he motioned to Swagger that he wanted the belt.
Backstage, Carlito and Ted DiBiase were talking, but Carlito wanted nothing to do with him.
The Million Dollar Son was looking for somebody to carry his bags. R-Truth accused him of wanting a Virgil.
DiBiase offered him a bunch of money to do it, but Truth slapped him across the face and said, “Truth don’t play that.”
Funny segment.
John Cena military appreciate segment is shown. Not that we don’t like the military, but this was a typical over-the-top WWE dramatic vignette with a cheesy rock ballad score.
Draft Pick No. 8
With the final pick of the 2010 WWE Draft, Chris Jericho was sent back to Monday Night Raw.
Here is how it went down.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Hornswoggle
In the final match of the night with draft implications, Dolph Ziggler faced Hornswoggle.
The match lasted less than a minute as Hornswoggle drew Ziggler to the outside and drew the count out by throwing his shoes and army helmet at him to keep him from re-entering the ring.
After the match Ziggler applied the Sleeper Hold to the little guy.
Referee Charles Robinson and Jerry Lawler checked on his well being after Ziggler left and Chris Jericho was announced to the Raw crowd.
No. 1 Contender’s Match for WWE Title
Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Sheamus
Before the competitors in Monday’s WWE Raw main event could be announced, Batista came out and went on a tirade.
Batista said that last night was a joke and that nobody beats him like John Cena did at Extreme Rules. He demanded a match, but Sheamus came out before Cena could respond.
The Celtic Warrior reminded him that he lost and called he and Randy Orton a bunch of losers. Orton came out and said that he’d face them both tonight in separate matches.
They got into it some more until Cena came out and made it a Triple Threat Match.
The three men were battling to a finish and Orton was about to take him home after hitting an RKO on Sheamus while Batista was out cold. However, Edge, who was recently drafted to Raw, came out and speared Orton.
Batista rolled over still in a daze and draped his arm across Orton for the win to become the No. 1 contender for John Cena’s WWE Title.
