On Monday’s WWE Raw we bid farewell to Shawn Michaels.

The show opened with a video package of his match against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 26, which got the live crowd in Phoenix chanting “HBK.”

Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole then revealed that he would have a farewell on Raw.

Michaels lost to Undertaker in a phenomenal match at Sunday’s big pay per view.

The retirement is not just part of a storyline according to Michaels who has informed his friends that he is really walking away.

Just one night removed from WrestleMania 26, WWE continued the drama in the opening segment of Monday Night Raw. Batista was the first man through the curtain.

He came to the ring, got on the mic and said that it was essentially a fluke that John Cena beat him for the WWE Title. After hurling a few more insults the new WWE Champion emerged from backstage.

Cena fired back by poking fun at The Animal and said that Batista had the opportunity to make history by regaining the title on the same night that Shawn Michaels said goodbye.

Batista declined the opportunity for a rematch on Raw and got into a brief altercation with the champ. Jack Swagger then came through the crowd and attacked Cena with his newly won Money in the Bank briefcase.

After a short beatdown he called for a ref and said he was cashing it in right then and there. Cena regained his composure as the ref came from the back which caused Swagger to bail out of the ring and take back the match.

Because it never started Swagger still has the briefcase and can cash it in at anytime within the next year.

As Raw continued, newly inducted WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase came out to the ring with fellow WWE legends IRS, Nick Bockwinkle, Pat Patterson and Arn Anderson.

Next out of the gate was Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Tony Garea and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

Jerry “The King” Lawler left his position at the announce table and joined his fellow legends at ringside as guest hosts Rob Corddry and Clark Duke from “Hot Tub time Machine” announce that Batista and Jack Swagger will face John Cena and a partner of his choice.

The hosts also put themselves in a Hot Tub match against the WWE Divas.

Then the pair announced that special legends Lumberjack Match between Christian and Ted DiBiase, Jr. would be the first bout of the night.

As the match progressed Michael Cole revealed that Cody Rhodes would be out indefinitely from the concussion he suffered thanks to Randy Orton at WrestleMania.

Meanwhile, Christian got the victory after hitting the Killswitch on DiBiase who was distracted by the brawling legends on the outside.

After the match daddy DiBiase tried to console his son, but baby DiBiase pushed him away and looked to blame him for his loss. It was his father who started the brawl on the outside after all.

More highlights of Shawn Michaels career are shown. This time it was the famous segment where he put Marty Jannetty through the barber shop window.

As the show went to commercial break, Triple H was shown walking in the back.

Santino Marella got in his weekly comedy during a segment backstage with the Hot Tub Time Machine guys. He held a radio above his head and made a John Cusack reference.

Meanwhile, the hot tub match with the Divas turned out to be anything but. The guys announced that the Diva who stayed in the hot tub with them the longest would get a shot at the WWE Divas Title.

Triple H came out next and said that the night was surreal. He said that it was an end of an era and that he never thought it would end this way for Shawn Michaels. He tells a story about coming into the WWE for the first time and seeing HBK in goofy overalls and a poor mullet. “But,” he said, “We took on the world.”

He made a veiled reference to “the clique” holding up the Wolfpac sign and said that then it was just him and Shawn after they left.

He got a little choked up and said that there was something he wanted to tell Shawn, but never did. As he was about to get it out Sheamus nailed him with a metal pipe from behind.

Crazy heat for the Celtic Warrior.

In a rematch from WrestleMania 26 Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Beth Phoenix and Gail Kim defeated Maryse, Vickie Guerrero, Michelle McCool, Alicia Fox and Layla in literally seconds on Monday’s WWE Raw.

Eve pinned the Maryse just after the match started. As the heels quarreled on the outside, Vickie was left alone in the ring and quickly got out of there.

Nothing to it.

The next Shawn Michaels career highlight shown was his ladder match against Razor Ramon at WrestleMania 10 in New York.

As WWE took Raw to break, Bret Hart was shown walking to the ring in the back.

When WWE Raw came back from commercial break highlights from the Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart Iron Man Match at WrestleMania 12 were shown.

Hart came out to the ring and put Michaels over before turning his attention to Vince McMahon.

He said it felt great to beat the holy hell out of McMahon. He said that all the fallen Harts, including Owen, were looking down smiling. Chants of “Owen” rang throughout the arena as Bret opened his jacket to reveal a picture of he and his brother on his t-shirt.

He thanked the WWE fans for their support over the past three months of his return and was about to ride off into the sunset when the Miz and Big Show made their way to the ring.

Miz began insulting the WWE legend saying that he was a thief and that Hart robbed him of his time over the past three months. He said he was sick of all this “Bret screwed Vince” talk.

After winning his first WrestleMania match on Sunday Miz said he would get to the Undertaker’s streak and that Hart was overrated.

As the situation was escalating the Hart Dynasty came out to defend Bret which caused the Tag Team Champions to leave.

Hart then talked them into facing the Dynasty as they were walking away.

Although a non-title match, the Hart Dynasty got a big win over the Tag Team Champions on Monday Night Raw.

Tyson Kidd looked like a little child compared to Big Show.

After Miz blind tagged himself in, the match fell apart for the champs.

Smith and Kidd hit a Heart Attack on Miz. Shortly thereafter Kidd applied the Sharpshooter, but Big Show pulled his partner out of the ring before he could tap.

The pair were counted out as they walked up the ring while Show was telling his partner to just listen to him.

The Hart stable celebrated in the ring as the segment drew to a close.

The next highlight of Shawn Michaels’ career was his time with Degeneration X.

The Bella Twins each earned future WWE Divas Title shots on Monday’s WWE Raw.

The pair were the final two contestants left in the hot tub with Hot Tub Time Machine stars Rob Corddry and Clark Duke, so they got the right to wrestle for the title.

After the Divas exited, Mark Henry got in with the actors wearing a red Speedo.

Hornswoggle also popped up from under the water where he had been the whole time with a snorkel.

As WWE Raw continued, Jack Swagger came out for his tag match with Batista against John Cena and a mystery partner. Before anybody else came out he got on the mic and said that he was just messing with Cena earlier.

When he does cash in Money in the Bank he’ll be the odds on favorite to win… or so he says.

John Cena wound up choosing Randy Orton as his partner for the match. The face turn for The Viper is in full effect.

John Cena and Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger and Batista after Orton hit RKO’s on both opponents.

After the match Cena briefly stared down his partner before grabbing his belt and walking off.

Orton was way over with the live crowd.

Highlights from Shawn Michaels match against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 were shown.

As WWE legend Shawn Michaels came to the ring on Monday Night Raw he received a huge standing ovation from the crowd in Phoenix as well as from the announcers.

Chants of “HBK” loudly echoed throughout the arena. Before he could even get out a word the Undertaker came out.

The Dead Man stopped at the top of the ramp and tipped his hat in respect to Michaels before turning around and heading back to the locker room.

Again chants of “HBK” reigned down as the crowd begged him not to go.

Michaels talked about staring his wrestling career at 19 and being on TV by 23. He said that not being in your living rooms each week is going to take some getting used to.

The crowd started chanting, “Thank you Shawn” as tears began rolling down his cheeks. He said that for years the ring and the fans were all he had. “For years you guys were the only thing that made me like me,” he said.

He thanked Triple H for being his friend when nobody else in the world wanted to touch him. He admitted that there were a lot of people that didn’t like him and that he was difficult to be around, but Hunter never left his side. He is a real friend and has been for 16 years.

He also thanked the production crew, the announcers and Jim Ross. He said they made him look so much better than he ever was.

In addition HBK thanked Adam from WWE in Stamford for putting together his awesome video packages over the year.

Pleas for “one more match” came in from the crowd. He said that he knows how a lot of people feel about career ending matches. However, he said he didn’t want to back on his word to the fans or the Undertaker and that he was going to do everything in his power to make sure that never happens.

In a sign of respect he thanked Bret Hart. He said he couldn’t begin to tell us how much he drove Hart crazy back in the 90’s. Moreover, he said that Hart had every right to say everything he ever did about him. Then he thanked him for accepting him as a friend once again.

He thanked Vince McMahon and jokingly said that he didn’t know if he’d get in trouble saying his name, but it was his farewell speech and he’s going to do it anyway. Michaels said that he could never work for anybody else and McMahon was the only man he drove crazier than Hart. He thanked the boss for standing by him. He credited Vince for keeping him on course and not letting him crash like he should have.

Lastly, Michaels thanked the fans which prompted chants of “Thank you Shawn.” He thanked the fans for giving him the honor and privilege of coming out and competing for them every night of his life.

Jesus Christ got a shout out, too.

He told his family that “Daddy was coming home” before wrapping up.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels has left the building,” he said. He then gently put down the microphone and left the ring for the final time.

Triple H came out when he was at the top of the ramp and had clearly been crying backstage. The two embraced and Hunter placed the DX glowsticks at their feet to symbolize the end of their run.
