Former WWE Champ Ron Simmons will be wrestling his last match at Purks International Championship Wrestling on February 6th.
Simmons moved into pro wrestling from a career in football, which saw him inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008, and debuted as a wrestler in 2006. He worked for the NWA and WCW and ECW before moving on the the then WWF in 1996 under the ring name Faarooq Asaad.
Later, shortening his name to Faarooq, he began teaming with Bradshaw (John Layfield) first as ‘Hell’s Henchmen’ and later the Acolyte Protection Agency. The APA were separated in the 2002 Draft, re-forming in 2003 until Simmons retired from active wrestling. He continued to make occasional appearances with WWE until January 2009.
After the PICW show, Simmons will be participating in a Q&A session for the first 100 fans to opt in.
