Shad Gaspard says on his Myspace Blog that he has passed the first round of casting calls for a role in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie. Gaspard is hoping to land the part of villain Ukafa, alongside Stargate Atlantis actor Jason Momoa as Conan.
Previously, the bigger half of of WWE’s Cryme Tyme admitted being concerned about the ‘Hollywood heavy hitters’ he was auditioning against, but now says the producer’s choice is down to himself and ’several others’.
Gaspard is a good physical match for the script’s take on Ukafa – ” … in his 30s-40, very dark-skinned African or African American, massively framed at six-foot-five”, though he may be a little young at his actual age of 29.
“This role is as important to me,” he notes in his blog, “as playing The Scorpion King … was for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”
