TNA’s backstage tension between Awesome Kong (Kia Stevens) and Bubba the Love Sponge (Todd Clem) has apparently flared again, with reports that Kong has filed a law suit against the radio host and interviewer, accusing him of ‘hate speech’.
Kong says; Bubba called her at home in the early morning, claiming to be on air, and launched into a tirade of threats, abuse and racist slurs.
Bubba says; The allegations are baseless, the call never came from his radio show, and he has an alibi for his whereabouts at the time. He presents a statement to this effect on his website, and went into more detail on his radio show, as reported by 411Mania.
Kong maintains that she received a call in the early hours of February 10, according to The Courthouse News, by a male who identified himself as Bubba and claimed the call was going to air. He then proceeded to threaten and abuse her, and Kong says she recognized his voice.
Issues between the two go back to early in Bubba’s tenure with TNA, when Kong ‘sucker-punched’ him in response to a derogatory Twitter remark about the earthquake in Haiti.
