It has been confirmed that TNA Wrestling will move Impact to Monday nights to go head-to-head with WWE Raw starting on March 8.

“We’ve always wanted to go on Monday nights,” TNA president Dixie Carter said in an interview with Variety that let the cat out of the bag early by one day. “That’s where the wrestling viewing audience is accustomed to being.”

The company will officially announce the move at a press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon in Orlando.

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are hoping to re-ignite the Monday Night Wars of the 90′s.

“It’s a little bit of history repeating itself,” Bischoff said. “This is a great opportunity for TNA to step up and get noticed and showcase their product. I’ve said since the moment I started talking to Dixie, in my opinion we should go head-to-head with ‘Monday Night Raw.’ To me, it’s a battlefield — and to win the battle, you have to be on the battlefield.”

As for WWE… the Vince McMahon run organization doesn’t seem to be losing any sleep over the increased competition.

“We’re not too concerned,” WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman said in the article. “We’re in good shape.”
