Long time wrestling journalist and friend to the business, Georgiann Makropoulos passed away unexpectedly on Monday at the age of 67 due to a massive heart attack.
Markropoulus has posted for such sites as www.1Wrestling.com and most recently www.wrestlingfigs.com. However, she is best known for her Wrestling Chatterbox newsletter which she published for the past 22 years.
Her reach in the business extended well beyond the Internet. She was also a driving force for some independent talents to get tryouts with major promotions and even got involved in setting up contract negotiations.
There has been a great outpouring of support and love for “Georgie” from people of all walks of life in the business.
ECW founder Paul Heyman wrote of her passing that “pro wrestling lost its best friend.”
WWE star Hurricane Helms penned that she was “a truly sweet human being.”
