WWE Elimination Chamber

The WWE Elimination Chamber pay per view saw both major titles change hands, Shawn Michaels continue his quest to face Undertaker at WrestleMania and Batista and Vince McMahon screw John Cena out of the WWE Title.

The pay per view kicked off with the WWE Championship match.

WWE Champion Sheamus and Kofi Kingston started the match while Triple H, John Cena, Ted DiBiase and hometown favorite Randy Orton awaited their opportunity to enter.

The champion had the upper hand on Kingston when Triple H was the first man granted entrance to the match from the chamber pods.

Randy Orton entered the match next to a big ovation. No eliminations had occurred at the time he was released into the ring.

Ted DiBiase was the next man into the match. He helped Orton to his feet and the pair began working over the other competitors.

With nobody eliminated to that point, John Cena was the final man to enter the match and he came out on fire.

Cody Rhodes came to ringside and tossed a lead pipe to DiBiase who clocked Orton with it. Then he took out Cena, both of which were legal because of the NO DQ rules. After debating for a moment, DiBiase pinned Orton, making him the first man out.

The other member of Legacy would get his due moments later when he was eliminated by Kofi Kingston. In turn, Sheamus would eliminate Kingston less than a minute later.

Flash forward a few minutes and Triple H would hit the Pedigree on Sheamus, ensuring that either he or John Cena would become the new WWE Champion.

Cena then strapped on the STF and forced Triple H to tap.

The new WWE Champion is John Cena who will go on to headline WrestleMania next month.

While he was still composing himself, Vince McMahon came out and announced that Cena would have to defend his title immediately against Batista.

The match was short-lived. Cena got in one punch before being speared and taking a power bomb before dropping the title to Batista.

His championship reign may be the shortest in history.

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre successfully defended
his Intercontinental Title against Kane in the second match of the WWE Elimination Chamber pay per view on Sunday.

McIntyre, who was considerably smaller than his opponent, held his own in the match and waited for his opportunity to strike.

While the referee’s view was obstructed, McIntyre hit Kane with a thumb to the eye and immediately followed that up with the Future Shock DDT to retain the title.

In a surprise match, Michelle McCool and Layla defeated Maryse and Gail Kim. Here’s how it went down.

Backstage, Maryse caught up with Gail Kim as she was walking to the ring for their match for the WWE Diva’s title. As it turns out, Kim knows how to speak French and called Maryse out for dissing her in her native tongue.

After the Divas reached the ring, Vickie Guerrero came out and postponed the finals of the Diva’s Title tournament, because she said the Raw Divas had been dissing the Smackdown Divas.

So, Gail Kim and Maryse will have to team to face Layla and Michelle McCool.

They didn’t function very well as a team. McCool was able to pin Kim giving the win to the Smackdown team.

Post-match, Maryse hit Kim with the French Kiss to continue their feud.

Backstage, while insulting his student, Daniel Bryan, from WWE NXT the Miz found out that he would be facing MVP for the US Title on the pay per view.

William Regal came to the ring to cut a heel promo about WWE NXT.

Edge

He was being rude to the crowd when he was cut off by Edge who called him “Lord Snugglesworth.”

The 2010 WWE Royal Rumble winner said that he is going to announce who he will face at WrestleMania tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw from Indianapolis.

After dropping that nugget he speared Regal to delight the crowd.

The Miz retained his US Title against MVP.

Miz was accompanied to the ring by his tag team partner Big Show while MVP was joined by Mark Henry.

The two men went back and forth while their partners looked on from outside the ring. Neither gained the upper-hand.

While they were fighting, you could see security confiscating a “TNA Sucks” sign from the audience. Interesting that WWE would make the decision to pull that sign.

Meanwhile, the Miz began to bleed from the forehead courtesy of a headbutt. It’s always nice to see a little color in WWE these days. People bleed… get over it, McMahon.

On the outside, Mark Henry was tossed through the retaining wall by Big Show. It was an impressive crash.

With the ref’s back turned, Big Show hit MVP with the Knockout Punch. Miz covered to retain his title.

A WWE doctor immediately came into the ring to clean up his cut. Humorously, Miz tried to celebrate with him.

Shawn Michaels

The final match of the WWE Elimination Chamber pay per view saw Chris Jericho become the new World Heavyweight Champion and Shawn Michaels cost Undertaker the title. Here’s how it played out.

CM Punk was accompanied to the ring by Serena and Luke Gallows. He got on the mic and cut a promo comparing his opponents being locked into the chamber to their everyday lives where they depend on drugs and such.

He was cut of by R-Truth when he was talking about how they would be drowning their pain with alcohol and prescription medication in the morning.

Punk and R-Truth started the match while, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and John Morrison awaited their turn to enter the match.

Punk eliminated R-Truth with the GTS before the next man could enter the ring. He then continued his straight edge crusade on the mic.

Rey Mysterio is the first man let out of his pod. He and Punk go back and forth with Mr. Savior using the luchadore as a baseball bat at one point.

Then, Mysterio hit a Hurricarana off the top rope, sending Punk crashing onto the steel. A splash later and CM Punk is eliminated.

Chris Jericho entered the match just ten seconds later. He and Mysterio would put on a strong five minute effort until John Morrison came into the match.

Morrison was able to counter a Mysterio Hurricarana effort with a Starship Pain to eliminate Mr. 619.

The Undertaker, who was the Champion heading into the match, was the final man to be released from his pod. He saved Morrison who was locked in the Walls of Jericho when the Dead Man was released.

For the second time on the night a WWE wrestler began bleeding as Jericho got a little bit of color on his cheek.

Meanwhile, in his battles with Undertaker, Jericho and the Deadman broke one of the doors on the chamber, leaving it hanging from its hinges. Refs had to hold it up from the outside.

Morrison’s ankle came into play while he was working over the World Heavyweight Champion as Jericho cowered back in one of the pods, holding the door shut.

Undertaker chokeslammed Morrison on the steel to send him packing, leaving only he and Jericho in the match.

The went on to work a beauty, include a series where they countered a chokeslam into a Hell’s Gate into the Wall of Jericho and back into a Hell’s Gate.

Undertaker was setting up for the finish with a chokeslam, but Shawn Michaels popped out from under the cage and hit Sweet Chin Music on the Undertaker.

In shock, Jericho covered the Dead Man to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Dressed in street clothes, Michaels stood over Undertaker as the show drew to a close.
