Edge
The match between Chris Jericho and Edge would have gone on last at Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pay per view had there been a title on the line. It was easily the best contest of the night.
Edge got a huge response from the Baltimore crowd when his music hit.
The two men went back and forth for five minutes before Jericho slammed Edge off the top rope and immediately applied the Walls of Jericho. With the stipulation of the match being what it was, the ref didn’t break the hold when Edge reached the ropes. The good news for The Rated R Superstars is that he was able to counter by slinging Jericho into the cage, which settled the two men back into a battle routine.
Jericho had the match won at one point and was even walking down the ring steps, but instead got back in the cage to continue his assault. He went after Edge with a steel chair, but missed and got speared as a result.
Jericho kicked out and would hit a Code Breaker on Edge who would also kick out.
Flash forward a few minutes and the two men were battling on top of the cage, with Jericho dangling over the side at one point. When they climbed back inside, Jericho hit a Springboard Code Breaker on Edge, but was still unable to get the pinfall.
It was right around this time that Edge snapped and began really working over Jericho, trying to damage his ankle, just as his was injured last summer.
Then the spear. And this time Jericho was unable to get up.
Edge got the win.
