Thank you for reading the Smackdown Recap from the desk of Mr. Phillips
Smackdown tonight is in London England, one week out from Extreme Rules. Chris Jericho comes out with a sour look on his face. We are told about the World Heavyweight Championship match contested under extreme rules, made by David Hasselhoff Monday’s Raw guest host, between Randy Orton and Jack Swagger. Jericho insults the crowd, and says that Orton has no reason to be going against Swagger. That he is the reason the title is what it is. Jericho complains yet again that he does not have a rematch against Swagger. Jericho calls for Teddy Long’s resignation, and for him to immediately face the winner of Swagger and Orton. Edge interrupts Jericho’s tirade. Edge says he actually agrees with Jericho on a few points: The title needs to stay on smackdown, that Jericho deserves a rematch, and that Jericho needs a swift kick to the “cabbalas”. The last part is what everyone is waiting to see. Edge calls Jericho damaged goods because of his spear. Edge does not think Jericho can beat either one of them. Now Teddy Long comes out. Teddy blames Edge and Jericho for the reason that Orton is going against Swagger for the World Heavyweight Championship. Jericho demands what he deserves. Long says what he deserves is to be thrown out the building for the night. Long makes a World Heavyweight Championship match between Swagger, Edge, and Jericho.
Drew Mcintyre entrance hits, and we are greeted by the Intercontinental Champion. Mcintyre grabs a mic to a chorus of boos from the English crowd. He tells the crowd that they are jealous of him. The stage explodes as Kane walks out. It is a one on one non-title match between Kane and Drew Mcintyre. Drew with a quick couple of kids to the midsection before Kane starts throwing right hands and backs Mcintyre into the corner, and throws Drew out with a Japanese arm drag. Kane with a headlock takedown, applying pressure to McIntyre’s neck, then followed up by a running shoulder block. Kane follows it up with a snapmare takeover, then a dropkick to the face of “The Chosen One” Drew Mcintyre. Quick cover by Kane only gets a two count. Irish whip by Kane into the corner, but Drew moves out of the way, as Kane comes flying in with a head of steam. McIntyre with a big boot to Kane, followed by a neckbreaker, cover by Mcintyre yields a one count. Drew with a right hand and a few kicks to back Kane into the corner. The intercontinental champion bounces off the ropes only eat a big boot from Kane. Big running clothesline to Mcintyre in the corner, followed by a side walk slam. Cover…. Two count. Kane climbs the corner, hits the big flying clothesline. Kane follows by signaling for the chokeslam. Drew Mcintyre climbs out the ring. Drew starts walking up the ramp as Matt Hardy throws him back in the ring. Referee throws out the match after the Hardy interference, but Drew Mcintyre gets chokeslammed anyway. Matt Hardy just realized that he had gotten Kane disqualified, and eats a chokeslam.
Winner by DQ: The intercontental Champion Drew Mcintyre.

Swagger is back in Teddy Long’s office, asking Teddy who he thinks he is, and it’s the most unfair ruling he has ever made. Long says he is the GM of Smackdown.World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger walks into Teddy Long’s office and says this is the most unfair ruling he’s ever made. Long reminds him that he’s the general manager and as long as he holds the title then he’ll have to deal with his rulings. That’s real talk.

Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring and as he does we see highlights of his truly heroic act from last week. That heroic act was putting Josh Mathews in the sleeper hold. I’m a fan of his now. Ziggler gets in the ring and says Teddy Long has demanded he publicly apologize for physically abusing a television announcer. Ziggler says “blah, blah, blah” he apologizes to Josh Mathews.
R-Truth comes out and tells him he has no heart or soul. R-Truth tells him he’s never been sincere or humble in his whole life. R-Truth says the truth is Ziggler didn’t mean a word he said (I wonder if it was the “blah, blah, blah” that gave it away…). R-Truth says the truth hurts.
Dolph Ziggler vs. R-Truth
Ziggler puts his hand out for a shake and quickly attacks R-Truth. Ziggler hits a beautiful inverted body slam and gets a two count. Ziggler applies a chin lock on but R-Truth quickly fights up and punches out. R-Truth hits some clotheslines. Ziggler reverses a whip but R-Truth slingshots over, splits under a clothesline, and hits his jumping heel kick (you’d think guys would stop trying for the clothesline after the slingshot). R-Truth hits a hip toss and gets pumped up for his finisher. Ziggler ducks the Lie Detector. Ziggler then locks on the sleeper hold. R-Truth slowly fades away. They hold it on for a bit before the referee calls the match over.

Beth Phoenix runs in and grabs McCool but Simply Flawless drags her out. Beth chases them away and stands on the barricade looking at them. What’s with all the standing on the barricade all of a sudden? Beth then helps Mickie up and raises her arm. I guess my wish for a Glam Slam isn’t happening.
