The ratings are in for the first round of the Monday Night Wars between WWE and TNA. Unfortunately for both companies, they are down.
World Wrestling Entertainment’s Raw did a 3.4 USA Network, easily beating TNA, which did a 1.0 on Spike TV according to the Wrestling Observer.
It’s a clear case of TNA stealing some of WWE’s audience, but not gaining any new fans.
Many fans who would have tuned in for Thursday’s unopposed Impact instead chose to stick with Raw as their Monday night staple. Meanwhile a handful of curious cats decided to forgo Raw to check out Impact.
Last week’s WWE Raw did a 3.7 rating—a full three-tenths higher than this week.
For TNA, the number is a far cry from the 1.45 they did for January’s special live three-hour broadcast. That show was likely the biggest determining factor in making the move to Monday nights.
Rough start, but it’s only round one. Over time the ratings for both shows should rise significantly.
