We open the show with Jim Ross and Todd Grisham running down the night's schedule to us.

- Justin Roberts introduces “Our new and only Straight Edge World Champion” CM Punk.

- Punk takes the microphone and tells us that he told us that he would beat Jeff Hardy and shows us a video of their match at Summerslam. He says that he is in pain and that it is the pain that keeps him alive, and does not take illegal prescriptions to subdue the pain.
He notes that he wasn’t able to celebrate his win because he was robbed by the Undertaker, and he shows us a video of the Undertakers actions. He says that he is being forced to defend his title tonight and he will prove once again that he is better than Jeff Hardy.

- Jeff Hardy enters. He tells Punk that his reign as Straight Edge champion ends tonight.

- Punk then accuses Hardy of being high on drugs for having the guts to confront him tonight. He says that he is tired of the fans cheering for Hardy and he is tired of Hardy PERIOD. Punk then proposes an looser leaves WWE match. Jeff Hardy agrees. Punk says that he will be eliminating Hardy and he won’t enabling the fans anymore.

- Theodore Long enters and makes the match official. And says the winner of the match will have to defend the World Title at WWE Breaking Point against The Undertaker.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

We return to the show with a view of the Phoenix, AZ skyline and some Arizona Cardinals in the crowd.

Match #1 - John Morrison & Matt Hardy vs. The Hart Dynasty ( David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd) W/ Natalya

Matt Hardy and Tyson Kidd start, a quick arm bar by Hardy and he tags into Morrison. Morrison soon tags out to Hardy again and Tyson Kidd takes control by putting Hardy in a chokehold. Smith tags in and so does Morrison. Morrison takes control, and executes an awesome standing Shooting Star Press on Hart Smith and then executes his finisher.

WINNERS: John Morrison & Matt Hardy

COMMERCIAL BREAK

-Maria and Melina are arguing in the back about Dolph Ziggler. Melina says that she saw Ziggler with another woman. Maria says that she is just jealous of her. Ziggler enters and says that the other woman was his sister.

Match #2 - R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre

McIntyre attacks R-Truth prior to the match starting and lays out R-Truth.
- McIntyre takes the microphone and says that he doesn’t joke around.

WINNER:  No Contest

COMMERCIAL BREAK

- We Recap the R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre Non Match

-Michelle McCool enters with Crutches and says that she has an injured knee because of Melina and she is now unable to wrestle, but she has a replacement, Layla.

Match #3 Layla vs. Melina

The two lock it up and both trade kicks and control of the match.  
Layla kicks Melina in the Knee and takes it to Melina. Melina reverses on Layla with a leg drop.

WINNER: Melina

-Post match Melina shoves Michelle McCool and leaves her laying.

- We take a look back at Summerslam AXXESS

Match #4 - WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Kane (non-title)

Kane goes into attack mode and begins to beat at Mysterio. He backs Mysterio into the corner and Mysterio begins to fight back only to be knocked down with a punch. Kane puts Mysterio in an arm bar stretch..  
Kane dropkicks Mysterio. Mysterio takes control and attempts several high risk maneuvers and Kane powers back into control. Mysterio counters the choke slam for a 619 and Kane slides out of the ring.  
They both head outside where Kane takes control and repeatedly rams Mysterio into post.

WINNER BY DISQUALIFYCATION: Rey Mysterio

-The Great Khali enters and knocks Kane out of the ring, and proceeds to beat Kane to the locker-room with a Singapore Cane.

-Dolph Ziggler enters and beats down Rey Mysterio.

Match #5 - Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho vs. Shad

Shad quickly goes to work on Jericho. He dominates and Power slams Jericho. Big Show pulls Jericho out of the ring after a near fall. JTG attacks the Big Show

- Theodore Long enters and makes the match a tag team match.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

REVISED Match #5 - Unified Tag Team Champions The Big Show & Chris Jericho vs. Cryme Tyme (JTG & Shad)

We return with Jericho and JTG battling in the ring. The referee gets distracted and Big Show lands a powerful chop to the chest of JTG.  
Many quick tags are made and the Big Show lands a powerful right hand on Shad.

WINNERS: The Unified Tag Team Champions The Big Show & Chris Jericho

- We recap the Undertakers return at Summerslam. Undertaker returns to Smackdown next week.

- Matt & Jeff  Hardy embrace backstage. Matt reminds Jeff that he is making a huge gamble. Jeff says that he lives for the moment and the moment is now!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Match #6 - World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy - Steel Cage Match for the World Championship

CM Punk attacks Jeff Hardy as he makes his entrance. Punk tosses Jeff into the ring and the match is underway. Punk tries to escape and Hardy stops him numerous times. Punk tries to leave the door by Jeff latches his leg. Jeff takes control only to miss a splash on Punk.  
Hardy his a Whisper in the Wind on Punk and gets a near fall.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Hardy goes for the escape, but is kept from escaping by Punk. Punk and Hardy battle while on the top rope. Punk falls and Hardy goes for a Swanton Bomb and gets a near fall. Hardy tries to escape through the door and Punk keeps that from happening.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

We return and Punk is just about out of the Cage, but Hardy Drags him back in. The two exchange punches. Hardy reverses the GTS for a near fall on Punk.  Hardy counters the GTS once again and hits the Twist of Fate. Hardy goes to the corner and tries to climb. Punk rises and tries to hold onto Hardy. Punk gives Hardy a Superplex off of the top of the cage. Punk climbs to the top of the cage and Hardy tries to stop him, but Punk knocks Hardy off the side. Punk escapes the cage.

WINNER: World Champion CM Punk

-Hardy lays in the ring as Punk celebrates.

-Hardy rises and apologizes to the fans for letting them down. He says that it has been a Hell of a ride. And this is not goodbye forever, its only goodbye for now. He says that Matt is back, so at least there is still a Hardy on Smackdown.

-Hardy leaves up the Titantron and Punk comes from behind and lays Hardy out.
